President Kaljulaid took part in the 22nd Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting, held in Kyiv on 11–12 September under the theme “Peace Through Strength NOW!”
The annual meeting, organised by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, brought together around 700 politicians, diplomats, business leaders, military personnel, veterans, civil society representatives and experts from 28 countries to discuss Ukraine’s security, European and transatlantic support, and the path towards a just and lasting peace.
During the two-day meeting, discussions focused on Ukraine’s defence capabilities, security guarantees, the future of European security and the continued support Ukraine needs from its international partners.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the participants by video, stressing the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities and partnerships with Europe, the United States and Canada. He also emphasised that security guarantees are ultimately guarantees of peace.
President Kaljulaid has served as a member of the Yalta European Strategy Board since 2021.
