Debating School is an educational initiative that aims to foster a school culture that values meaningful discussion and constructive dialogue. At the heart of the programme that is developed in partnership with the Estonian Debating Society, are teaching methods based on argumentation and discussion.
According to recent findings, 57% of Estonian teachers feel uncertain about their ability to use argumentation-based methods in the classroom, while nearly 60% of students enjoy expressing their views and taking part in discussions. The Debating School programme addresses this gap by providing students across Estonia with enhanced opportunities to develop their argumentation and critical thinking skills.
Debating School is a network of 39 schools, bringing together approximately 2,000 Estonian teachers and 20,000 students.
